Shobika Kalra inspires students

Leadership Lecture Series in GIIS host political, cultural, artistic, athletic, scientific and many other leaders from across the globe to discuss various topics with the students and motivate them. These inspirational sessions take on an interactive format, with many of the leaders opening the floor to questions from the students.

As part of this lecture series Ms. Shobhika Kalra 28-year-old Dubai resident visited the school in February 2019. She is a patient of a muscular ailment that has impacted her movement immensely. But this has not stopped Shobika from moving on and achieving her goals. She is truly inspiring and is a living proof that nothing is impossible if you have a strong determination. She has supported many causes, her biggest achievement being building 1000 wheelchair ramps with RTA in Dubai. The key message that each student went home with, was that life challenges can be turned around to something more positive and one should always learn to give back to the society. It was an enlightening session and indeed a defining moment for everyone.

Student Speak:

Leadership Lecture by Ms. Shobhika Kalra was very inspirational. She is a very positive person, from her I learnt that whatever twist that comes in your life there is always a way to overcome it. One thing that I realized during the session was that she was always smiling no matter what. I saw a video presentation about her on how she struggled in her life, and how she did scuba diving even though she was on wheel chair. I will never forget her, I simply cannot by how she has been an inspiration to me and will always be!

Today on 25th February 2019 Shobhika  Kalra a determined 28 year old came to our school for an inspirational session. The 28 year old fighter spoke about her organization “ Wings of Angelz” and how she overcame her disability. We also had interactive session with her. Fortunately I was one of the few students to ask a question to Ms. Shobikha. She is truly an inspiration and a positive light. It was a huge honour to welcome Ms.Shobhika to GIIS. She definitely inspired many GIIS  students with her positivity, determination and the fact that she has accomplished 1000 ramps around the world. Thank you to Ms. Shobhika for coming to our school!
