Healthy eating explained with experiments

The best way to develop scientific and observation skills in children is to give them experiments. They will not only develop a skill, but they will be able to apply it in their real life.

KG I children at GIIS, Dubai conducted an experiment in March 2019, using skittles chocolates to understand processed food. They arranged skittles on a plate and poured warm water. When the water was poured on the candy, color and sugar of the candy dissolved and then diffused through it, making it the color of the skittle. Children observed that skittles are candiescoated with color which is not very healthy for us. They were able to relate it to other food items which has food color like icing on cakes and doughnuts. They recorded their observation on sheet and on iPad.

Concept of dissolving, non-dissolving and mixing, non-mixing was revised.
