In a significant stride towards global educational excellence, GIIS Tokyo proudly announces the selection of Sota Mori, a talented Grade 10 student, to represent the school at the 5th Global Forum on the Future of Education and Skills 2030 in Bucharest, Romania, from December 6-8, 2023. The forum will focus on the topic "Navigating through uncertainty and complexity with generative AI, post-COVID recovery & natural or human-made disasters."  Sponsored by the Japanese government, GIIS Tokyo is excited to declare that Sota Mori is one of the two students representing Japan. His participation underscores GIIS Tokyo's commitment to fostering a dynamic learning environment, reflecting the school's dedication to global education initiatives.

The OECD's Future of Education and Skills 2030 initiative, launched in 2015, seeks to cultivate a shared understanding of the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values essential for 21st-century students. GIIS Tokyo actively contributes to this initiative, co-creating learning and teaching frameworks alongside policymakers, researchers, school leaders, teachers, and students worldwide.

Throughout 2022 and 2023, GIIS Tokyo has been actively involved in various stages of the OECD project, demonstrating its dedication to preparing students for the challenges of an ever-evolving world. Notable milestones include online meetings with the OECD, the presentation of GIIS Tokyo's Principal to the Japan OECD Education, and student participation in online workshops focusing on orientation and follow-up activities.

The journey leading to Sota Mori's selection for the Global Forum involved strategic planning and engagement. Students and teachers participated in workshops and catch-up sessions with educators and researchers worldwide, fostering an environment of global co-creation. One highlight was the "Being Alive" workshop in Sapporo, Hokkaido, which focused on fostering inclusion and diversity in schools, creating safe spaces for all students. GIIS Tokyo's dedication to promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment echoes in these efforts to nurture not only academic excellence but also social responsibility.

As Sota Mori prepares to join the 5th Global Forum, the GIIS Tokyo community eagerly anticipates the impact this experience will have on his personal and academic growth. The student selection is a testament to GIIS Tokyo's commitment to providing a holistic education that transcends geographical boundaries, preparing students to tackle challenges that have yet to emerge.

GIIS Tokyo takes pride in its role as a participant in the OECD's forward-thinking initiative and sees Sota Mori's representation at the Global Forum as a significant milestone, reaffirming the school's position as a leading institution in shaping the future leaders of tomorrow.
