GIIS sweeps all three awards in the education category – the World Class Award, the Best in Class Award and the Quest for Excellence Award, at the Asia Pacific Quality Organisation (APQO) Awards 2011.

History was created and Singapore’s reputation as a leader in school education was further emblazoned on the world map when Global Indian International School bagged not one, not two but all the three awards for education at the prestigious APQO Awards ceremony held in Singapore on 17 October, 2011.

The Global Performance Excellence Awards (GPEA) by APQO are the only formal international recognition of performance/business excellence in Asia Pacific, Australia and South America. This is the first time in APQO’s history, that any single organisation has bagged all three awards in the education category in the same year.

The APQO which recognises the world’s best from among national winners of excellence from over 30+ countries, recently held its 17th award ceremony in Singapore, under the patronage and support of the Singapore Productivity Association and SPRING.

This year’s competition was quite significant as it saw several established names from Singapore, including Housing and Development Board (HDB), Public Utilities Board (PUB) and Singapore Quality Award winners from the education sector also vying for the GPEA awards.

GIIS Queenstown Campus won the ‘World Class Award’ – the highest award in education for exemplary performance.

The GIIS East Coast Campus won the ‘Best in Class Award, the second highest award in the education category.

The GIIS Balestier Campus won the ‘Quest for Excellence Award’, the third highest award for education excellence.

Guest of Honour Ms Josephine Teo, Minister of State for Finance and Transport graced the occasion, in which CEOs of Global Indian International School (GIIS) along with HDB and PUB received the Global Performance Excellence Awards in the education and non-profit categories respectively.

Addressing over 600 delegates from around 25 countries, Ms Teo thanked the APQO officials for bringing this conference to Singapore after 16 years and congratulated the evening’s award winners in various categories.

Also present at the event were Dr Charles Aubrey, Chairman APQO, Ms Victoria Vallestero, APQO Secretary General, Dr Ahmad Magad, President Singapore Productivity Association and Mr Shan Ruprai, President APQO.

Congratulating GIIS, Mr Shan Ruprai, President, APQO said, “As you enter your 10th year, I am very pleased to present these quality excellence awards from the Asia Pacific Quality Organisation to GIIS. The commitment of the staff, teachers and the students who are committed to excellence in learning is commendable.”

Charles Aubrey, Chairman, APQO added, “To the students I can only say that you are very fortunate to be a part of such a great institution that performs so well in terms of performance excellence’’.

“While we are focussed on creating Global Citizens, we are equally focussed on creating institutions of the highest world standards” said Mr Atul Temurnikar, Co-Founder and Chairman, GIIS.

“These awards reflect the outstanding accomplishments and performance of our schools. At the core of this win is the GIIS ‘Nine Gems’ education framework is the pillar and foundation of GIIS schools,” said Mr Kaustubh Bodhankar, Deputy CEO, GIIS.

Mr BG Shenoy, Director, Global Centre for Education Excellence (GCEE) said, “We are proud to be the first Singapore education institute to win this top level award and are further honoured to receive all three awards in the education excellence category.”

I often find myself speaking about GIIS when I visit other countries as a model for how you integrate the values of education, the culture, the involvement of teachers who have a passion for the students and for education. The quality of their work with evidence of all the national and international accolades that you receive makes me very proud to be associated with the Global Indian International School.

Global Indian International School has been setting very high standards for almost 10 years. Congratulations on setting such benchmarks. I firmly believe that the standard of the students that pass out is truly exceptional.
