Celebrating Hindi Diwas

Hindi Diwas

Hindi Diwas is celebrated on 14th September every year, as ‘Hindi’ written in Devnagari script, was approved as an official language by the Constituent Assembly on this date in 1949. Hindi Diwas is celebrated at GIIS to educate its students on the importance of Hindi language. GIIS Indore marked Hindi Diwas by organising ‘Kavya Goshthi’, a collection of poems that were recited by students, teachers and parents. Ms. Shweta Vyas and Ms. Trupti Vaidhya, Hindi teachers set the mood for the literary session. The programme started by lighting of the lamp, ‘Deep Prajwalan Ceremony’. The special guests who joined the occasion were Mrs. Choudhary, Dr. Ms. Vohra and infrastructure partners of GIIS Indore, Mr. Sumit Suri and Mr. Hemant Suri. There were felicitated by a shawl & shreephal.

The students presented a melodious song highlighting the importance and glory of Hindi language. This was followed by an unforgettable journey of poetry. First, the teachers were invited to recite. Their poems touched upon the importance of hard-work and struggle in life that would add value to the lives of the students. Some poems were based on ‘Hasya Ras’-comic and ‘Veer Ras’- heroic expressions. The treasure of Hindi poems comprising knowledge, inspiration and entertainment was shared with the audience who enjoyed the richness of the works of great poets like (Late) Shri Harivansh Roy Bachchan, Shiv Mangal Singh Suman, Suryakant Tripathi ”Nirala”.

The Chief guests Mrs. Choudhary and Dr. (Mrs.) Vohra explained the importance of Hindi, which is the national language and the role of the younger generation to spread its richness across the world. Mrs. Choudhary urged the students to learn 5 new words of Hindi every day and use them to enrich their Hindi vocabulary and its usage. Dr. (Mrs.) Vohra said that Gandhiji was of the view that no country can make progress if it is dependent on the language of any other country and quoted his verses. Mr. Pramod Panse, Administration Manager GIIS Indore also presented a few self-composed poems based on the importance of Hindi, its development and its attachment to every Indian. Dr. Capt. Dinesha Bharadwaj, Principal GIIS Indore presented a Hindi poem based on the theme of @aps@Women Empowerment@aps@. She spoke of the role of teachers in helping students grow their passion for literature and language. She reminisced over her own Hindi teacher, Mrs. Sarla Chaturvedi, who had helped her in mastering her language skills in Hindi. She explained how recitation and literature helped in developing excellent oratory skills. The session ended with a melodious parody of ‘Ghazals’, sung by the Music teacher Ms. Neha Ratnaparkhe. Mementoes were presented to the all the students and parents who had participated in the program.
