Shifting learning base to Virtual lessons

Dear parents,

Hope all of you are staying safe and alert.

In accordance with the directives issued by the Singapore Government, our school has moved to Home Based Learning which is expected to continue until the end of the heightened alert period. We are cognizant of the challenges faced by the parents, particularly by working parents, in monitoring the students. Please be kind to yourself and do not hesitate to reach out to us should you have any concerns and difficulties.

In our endeavour to give the students the feel of a “normal” school year, we held The Global School Awards 2020-21 at the East Coast campus on the 7th of May 2021 at the school auditorium.

The awards honoured the students from class 5 to 9 who have performed exceptionally well in academics, sports and co-curricular activities such as Performing Arts and Literary Skills for the academic year 2020-21.

The various awards given away were Justice CS Dharmadhikari GIIS award for co-curricular excellence, Chandrakant Borde GIIS award for sports excellence, subject proficiency awards, Prof MGK Menon GIIS award for academic proficiency, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam GIIS award for Academic proficiency and the GSF President’s award for all-round excellence.

Another event held in the month of May, albeit virtually, was the Investiture Ceremony. This event aims to inculcate leadership qualities in students and gives an opportunity to put the same in action. A school prefectorial board was formed after rigorous scrutiny and the members of the Council were invested with the badges virtually with their portfolio and photographs on screen and administered the oath.

Grades 7 to 9 also took part in this year’s MUN virtually.  Our students were excited to share their perspectives with their peers globally. It’s a fantastic platform for the students to develop their leadership and entrepreneurial skills. We wish them luck in their future endeavours.

It seems this virus will test us for some more time but we need to be resilient to be able to come out victorious in the end.

Please adhere to the Covid safety measures and guidelines.

Wishing you good health and happiness.

Thank you for your continued support,

Warm Regards!

Principal
