Preparing Students To Get Back to School

Dear Parents,

Hope you are having a restful summer holiday.

I am sure, the current situation is providing you and your family with ample opportunities to spend time with each other and reflect.

“We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.”  – Native American Proverb

In the last couple of weeks before the commencement of the summer holidays, the campus was abuzz with activities and excitement when the PYP classes hosted an assembly on World Environment Day. The PYP 5 students spoke about the importance of Ecosystem Restoration, and how to improve the productivity and capacity of ecosystems to meet the needs of society, mindfully.

In accordance with the theme of the assembly, the PYP 5 students also conducted a workshop in alliance with The Little Green Dot Camberley Preschool @ Balmoral. The students got initiated into a carton recycling programme organized by Tetra Pak. The first-hand experience helped them to be receptive and conversant with the various ways of recycling that can be incorporated into our daily lives. It gives me immense joy to see these young minds becoming more aware of the consequences of global warming and trying to do their bit to better the world.

The much-awaited IBPYP ‘Celebration of Learning’ happened in the last week of May. It’s a great opportunity for students to showcase their learnings and discoveries within the Unit of Inquiry with their parents and the school community. How the young faces were beaming when they proudly displayed their works and understandings to the wider community. We sincerely wish they always advance in their learning journey.

We could successfully organize a virtual June Holidays Boot Camp for our students to refine their “study habits”. Aptly termed “Designerz” and “Coderz”, they aimed at strengthening designing skills for Grades 4 to 6 and Coding Skills for Grades 7 to 9 respectively. Should any student choose to be a programmer, acquiring these skills would definitely give them an edge.

We also conducted a webinar on the importance of Transdisciplinary Learning and its implementation in our school. The scope for learning can never be limited and it’s through a variety of experiences that our knowledge and learning get enriched. The school wishes to conduct many such workshops in the future to help parents understand the importance of Transdisciplinary Learning.

To reiterate the aforementioned idea, the East Campus is proud to announce a student-led initiative called ‘Clubs at EC.’ Students of grades 8 and 9, ably mentored by their chosen teachers, will conduct various clubs and help their fellow students display their talents and creativity in their chosen club. We positively hope to present the world with some stalwarts in the near future.

As always, thank you for your unfailing support.

Let’s hope the coming months bring some positivity.

Warm Regards

Principal
