July has been an enriching month!

The best way to find yourself is, to lose yourself in the service of others.” —Mahatma Gandhi

Dear Parents,

Truer words have never been spoken. The more we delve deep into this innocuous display of words, we are one step closer to the magical realm of finding one’s truest self. The act of giving enriches a person, it lifts others’ lives.

So, it doesn’t come as a surprise when GIIS EC decided to give away a part of their basketball court for the benefit of the community. The Yarrow Park, dedicated to the residents of Joo Chiat neighbourhood, will enable them to use and enjoy the recreational facilities – indeed a park for all ages.

The student members of GIIS EC Sustainability Club welcomed Minister Edwin Tong followed by a dance by the students depicting the importance of Mother Nature in our lives. The initiatives of GIIS EC Sustainability Club were lauded by one and all as their efforts to reduce Carbon Neutrality in the campus are truly noteworthy. That the school has successfully managed to create awareness amongst students and is providing a platform for such actions, warms my heart.

Global Indian Stars – another initiative by GIIS EC, concluded recently with overwhelming responses from our students. The holistic development that we aim for in a student, shows in their willingness to participate and take risks to evaluate themselves before the jury and judges. And the results of the competition bear testimony to that. GIIS EC has bagged major prizes across categories, making me very proud of their achievements. This is also the best time to acknowledge that competition is just the tip of the iceberg – what remains unseen is the cohesion and the dedication of each teacher to make any event successful. They are the true backbones of our institution.

The physical PTM that we had after a couple of Covid-stricken years is a validation of my thoughts. All the parents spoke highly of the dedicated team of teachers and their willingness and ability to rise above their call of duty for a student. I appreciate all the parents who had taken time out to book slots to meet the teachers. It was indeed a pleasure to meet each one of you on campus. The bond that ties us is invaluable and our driving force and motivation to surpass ourselves to impart quality education and values to our students.

And finally…we are an IBDP candidate school! We have been able to prove our mettle, our quality of IGCSE teaching, and our infrastructure to support IBDP classes in GIIS EC subjected to complete authorisation from the Board. But above all, the assurance from you - the parents - that you are immensely happy with the school and will continue to support and walk shoulder to shoulder in our march to reach the zenith.

We are in this together.

Regards,

CVK Sastry
