As Mark Cuban said, ”It doesn’t matter if the glass is half-empty or half-full. All that matters is that you are the one pouring the water.”
GIIS East Coast Campus organised Water Week from Feb 6 to 10 raising awareness about the importance of water conservation among students. To mark the occasion, various activities were conducted encouraging the students to take initiatives and actions at individual levels to conserve water.
As part of the event, students from grades 6 to 10 attended a lecture by scientist, Dr Chakravarthy Gudipati, who spoke on the need to conserve water and the steps taken by Singapore to conserve and recycle its water.
Students from grades 5 to 9 participated in a slogan writing competition and created creatively designed posters on water conservation, while students from grades 7 to 9 made a video on the same topic. The top three participants in each competition were awarded certificates for their outstanding work.
The primary division students also participated in the initiative by creating meaningful creative artwork and badges, which they wore throughout the week. Finally, to culminate this wonderful week, the entire school wore blue and created a beautiful formation of an umbrella collecting water droplets.
Overall, the Water Week was a great learning experience for the students, who explored and sharpened their skills while imbibing the right moral values. Such events and activities at GIIS encourage students to be responsible and aware citizens who can make a positive impact on society.
