GIIS East Coast Campus students have showcased their Tamil language proficiency by winning multiple awards in several literary competitions recently. These competitions emphasises on listening, speaking, and reading skills in Tamil language, helping students build a strong foundation in the language.

On March 19, the Tamil Language and Cultural Society organised the Tirukkural Vizha 2023 Literary Competitions to celebrate the great Tamil Poet and Philosopher, Tiruvalluvar. Karthik Charan Ganapathy and Srikrish Nandan Satheesh Krithika from CBSE Grade 6 won the first and third prizes, respectively, in the Primary 5-6 category. Harini Preetha Ganapathy won the first prize in the Primary 1-2 category, while Shruti Lakshminarayanan won the second prize in the Primary 3-4 category.

In addition, the Alagappa Alumni Team, Singapore, along with the Tamil Language Development Centre, conducted Tamil Literary Competitions on March 5, 2023. The GIIS EC Campus school won the overall trophy for the first position in the Primary 1-3 category. As part of Sol Azhagu – Tamizhodu Uravadu 2023 (Experience the beauty of Tamil Language) conducted by Sirpigal Mandram, Singapore on April 15, an online Tamil quiz competition was held. A primary 6 student from the campus won the first position and was awarded an e-voucher.

On February 18, NPS International School hosted two competitions, Kuralin Kural – Thirukural Competition, and Tamil Oratorical Competition. For both competitions, students from the East Coast Campus won the second prize.

These accomplishments by GIIS students demonstrate how every student is nurtured to explore their talents and hone them beyond the confines of the classrooms. Such opportunities also allow students to sharpen their skills, including public speaking, linguistic proficiency, writing skills, among others.
