EC students celebrate Friendship Day

Students of IB PYP 1 to 5 celebrated the International Day of Friendship with their friends and teachers this July, exchanging friendship bands and chocolates, and making friends for life.

Friendship Day is designated by the UN General Assembly in 2011 with the idea that friendship between people, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.

Students participated in various activities and there was so much excitement in the air when students danced and dedicated the lovey song ‘’you can count on me’’ by Bruno Mars to their friends and listed the importance and qualities that make a good friend. There was fun, frolic, and most importantly, constructive interaction among the buddies.

The celebrations held in the East Coast campus on July 28, was part of the school’s philosophy of 9GEMS which believes in chiseling students into well-rounded individuals. As part of this development, the campus organises events that help them develop bonds, be good communicators, show respect towards others and surroundings, and also connect with the community.

Friendship is one of the purest relationships which helps children develop important life skills like getting along with other people, sorting out conflicts and problems. Being a part of a global society, it is important to foster friendships with different people regardless of race, religion, language and colour.
