Dear Parents,
It’s ‘raining news’ this August…and we cannot wait to share them with you!
A news that all of us were waiting for with bated breath…the recent announcement from the Ministry of Health regarding mask regulations to be eased, meaning that from August 29, masks are no longer required and will be optional in classrooms or any other air-conditioned spaces on campus.
Whilst masks are no longer required indoors, we understand that mask-removal is a personal choice and some staff, students and parents may prefer to continue wearing masks indoors. There is no requirement to remove masks and as inclusive as we are as a community, we respect and support one another’s choices. I would further like to indicate that please keep your child at home, if unwell. Health should be of paramount importance.
As I have said before, August has been a busy month, keeping the entire school on its toes.
The jubilant celebrations for Singapore National Day and the Indian Independence Day saw the school in fervent preparations which culminated in a wonderful display of patriotism. Both the Primary and Secondary segments were entrusted with the responsibility of staging these important events and they should be sincerely lauded for shouldering the responsibilities and executing them to the best. Kudos to all the performers - it indeed filled the onlookers with pride to be a part of such glorious nations.
It's in August that we got to witness another nail-biting event – The GIIS EC Fathers’ Day Super Six Cricket Tournament. What an eventful day it was when the dads walked on the field, sportingly sacrificing their weekend sleep to be a part of this day-long sporting event. It was quite a high-strung game with the players not giving an inch without a fight. Adrenaline rushed as the stadium was filled with cheers that erupted as each team hit massive sixers. Finally, the day ended with the Singa Kings bagging the Champions trophy. It was exhausting yet exhilarating, tiring yet thrilling and the camaraderie that we witnessed, speaks volumes of the supportive parents’ community we are blessed with. EC looks forward to hosting such events in the future to strengthen the bond within our community.
And the exciting news that just came in – GIIS East Coast is the proud winner in all the categories of Jhankaar 2022, a yearly festival of dance held amongst schools in Singapore. I cannot be prouder of our students who displayed true grit and passion when they tightrope walk to balance academics and love for their craft. Let nothing darkle their sprightly dance.
And lastly, the school is gearing up for the upcoming Half Yearly/Semester 1 exams and revision is in full swing. Best wishes to all my students. Time to rise and shine.
Regards,
