In a vibrant celebration of culture and tradition, the kindergarten students of GIIS Dubai came together to mark the festive season of Navratri. The young children arrived at school dressed in colourful and traditional attire, filling the campus with an atmosphere of joy, festivity, and pride in Indian heritage.
The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the Garba and Dandiya dance sessions, where the children enthusiastically participated in these traditional Gujarati dances. The school’s MPH was transformed into a lively dance arena, adorned with colourful decorations and traditional motifs, creating the perfect backdrop for the festivities. Teachers joined in, guiding the students through simple yet energetic steps, ensuring that every child could participate and enjoy the spirit of Navratri.
The kindergarteners showed remarkable enthusiasm, twirling and clapping in sync to the lively beats of Garba music. For many of the children, it was their first time experiencing these cultural dances, and the joy on their faces was evident. The young dancers swayed with confidence, moving in rhythmic circles as they held their colourful Dandiya sticks, tapping them in coordination with their classmates. The event also provided a unique opportunity for students to learn about the cultural significance of Navratri, with teachers briefly explaining how the festival symbolises the victory of good over evil and is dedicated to honouring the nine forms of the goddess Durga.
