Students attended interactive session on Water Footprint and Waste Reduction

In an effort to educate and empower young minds about environmental sustainability, students at GIIS Dubai attended a special session led by a team of enthusiastic students from Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE).

The MAHE students kicked off the session by introducing the concept of water footprint and its impact on our environment. They discussed how human activities contribute to water scarcity, pollution and depletion of natural resources. Through presentations and discussions, students gained a deeper understanding of the cause-and-effect relationship between their actions and the health of our planet.

One of the highlights of the session was the introduction of the "7 R's" hierarchy, a framework designed to guide individuals in reducing waste generation. The MAHE team explained the significance of each R - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose, Repair, Refuse, and Rethink - and encouraged the students to incorporate these principles into their daily lives. Students were inspired to brainstorm innovative solutions to a waste-related problem presented to them, fostering creativity and critical thinking skills.
