Kindergarten students made soup using tomatoes, beetroot and carrots as part of the Kinderkitchen activities here. The kitchen activities are an important part of Kindergarten teaching and helps children understand the importance of eating fresh and healthy food for good nutrition.
In Jan 2019, KG II children made the soup using a mixer-grinder to blend the vegetables. They then cooked the mixture on a low flame under adult supervision. Safety was of utmost importance as teachers guided the students at every step.
Students learn to understand texture, taste, smell and sound during the cooking activity. It helps in developing fine motor skills, hand eye coordination, measurements, following instructions and understanding safety rules. They enjoyed soup with their peers and had a conversation about its taste.
