Principal's Message - Activities in June at GIIS Dubai

Dear Parents and Students,

It has been an incredible month at GIIS, Dubai with so many highlights. The coming term promises to be no less exciting, but for now, I would like to wish all our students a great summer holiday. Before getting into the details of events in June, I would like to appreciate all students and teachers for organizing and participating in different inventive activities throughout the first term.

Kindergarteners enjoyed their visit to Shindagha Museum where they learnt about the culture and history of UAE. It was great to watch them enjoying summer pool activities and playing water-themed games along with exploring swimming under the guidance of professional trainers. Our Pre KG and kindergarten students also learnt to identify their senses, practiced public speaking through ‘Show and Tell’ activity along with a spring - themed bloom and gloom experiment where children left paper flowers in water and watched them bloom as they got wet.

Primary grade students took part in Science experiments by participating in projects based on motion, pressure, magnetic energy, electricity and small chemical reactions. They also organized recycling activities on World Environment Day and converted plastic materials into creative showpieces. Other activities include buying and selling vegetables to help them understand the real-world transactions of trading, turning into young chefs through fireless cooking activity and observing World Food Day by promoting the importance of following food safety principles. Students also participated in Costume Day by dressing up as their great personalities including Mahatma Gandhi and APJ Abdul Kalam. The International Yoga Day was observed by primary students by being a part of yoga-themed assembly along with practicing different yoga postures and stretches.

Middle and Higher grade students participated in various globally-recognised art sessions, where they explored the art of renowned Italian painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo,  painter and sculptor Romero Britto, Greek pottery and floral art of Georgia O’Keeffe. Students of Grade 3 - 11 participated in an art competition based on Geometric shapes and organized ‘Food Fiesta’ together. It was a great event where students across the grades collaborated and bought different national cuisines. Students of grade 3 -7 visited the Green Planet and explored the facts about rainforests.

At GIIS, we believe in fostering each student's potential by providing opportunities for successful learning and growth. I am proud to say that the initiatives taken by the school community every month reflect the same. I look forward to welcoming all of you after summer break, rejuvenated and ready to conquer the pinnacle of opportunities.
