The new year for GIIS Dubai ushers in with recognition for its best practices fostering Creativity and innovation with the school winning the MILCA 2022 Gold Award of Quality for its two best practices Qutuhal and RISE(Robotics-innovation-STREAM-Exploration) at GIIS Dubai. This is the second time in a row the school has won an Award for Qutuhal since its launch in 2018 and RISE Curriculum in 2019 from Indian Society for Quality (ISQ) and during 17th World Education Summit 2020 respectively. Qutuhal which means Curiosity in Arabic, Sanskrit and many other languages is a well planned event hosted by GIIS during the months of Oct to Dec evoking curiosity and wonder among students. Qutuhal is an international inter-school event designed with meticulously planned 9 weekly challenges along with experts in various fields such as Science, Maths, Coding, AI, Robotics, Sustainability, Culinary Science, Space Exploration and business . 

Month of Curiosity which begins from Children’s Day in November marks the beginning of student projects exhibitions, Leadership Lecture Series (LLS) with Industry experts. This year Qutuhal Season 3 had participation from 45 GIIS and Non GIIS Schools with an impact on over 25000 students globally. The grand innovation challenge which is hosted during the winter holidays had a participation of over 1400 students from grades 1 to 12 globally. The season then culminates into a grand awards function for global student awards with cash prizes and certificates. Creativity and Innovation is a part of GIIS 9GEMS holistic learning module. At GIIS Dubai we have upscaled it with a curriculum for Robotics-Innovation-STREAM –Exploration (RISE) for grades 1 to 12. Weekly lessons designed with activities at the Global Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Robotics, STREAM, Coding, Design Technology, 3D printing and Space Exploration gives the students a plethora of opportunities to ideate, collaborate, co-create and innovate with knowledge. To add on, RISE lessons also develop problem solving skills and leadership qualities among students during its Lessons for Quality Circles and Kaizen improvement projects work by students. 

The curriculum also gives an exposure to immersive learning opportunities in complex Science, Maths and Space exploration topics. With specially designed learning modules empowering girls in Robotics engineering there had been an increase in girl student participation over the years. Qutuhal and RISE at GIIS Dubai are constantly evolving programs adding on more opportunities. The MILCA 2022 award is a great motivation for the Senior leadership team of the school and the department of the Global Centre for innovation and Entrepreneurship to achieve greater heights in its offerings fostering Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in years to come.
