GIIS children really enjoy helping in the kitchen. They have become very proficient at chopping. Children have learnt to chop most things, from soft fruits to hard vegetables like carrots, and we feel confident that they are quite resilient.
GIIS Kindergarten has a strong and motivated Parent Support Group. Children celebrated cooking without fire with their parents and teachers. In the virtual learning mode, Kinder Kitchen the school learning space cannot be accessed. Therefore with the help of parents they were beautifully organised at home linking it seamlessly to conceptual learning. Children learnt the concept of measurement, Healthy eating, senses, textures etc.
The hands-on activity was linked to the stories like Owl Babies. They made Owl babies with biscuits.
As a part of Kinder Kitchen activities children baked cakes as they were learning about baker as a community helper, their tools and roles. Virtual role play during these sessions supported experiential learning making it enjoyable for the little ones. The Kinder Kitchen activities help in creating lifelong learners.
