Independence Day evoked the perfect gestures of altruism, compassion and peace among GIISians

BENGALURU, 16 AUGUST, 2018 - The 72nd Independence Day ceremony in the GIIS Family, Bengaluru was witnessed by students, parents, teachers and the entire staff in a grand way. With the patriotic spirit in the heart and the colours of freedom- green, white and saffron seen in the attires, everyone assembled to offer respect to the significance of the day when India became free from the British tyranny. Mahatma Gandhi statue was decorated with flowers and the garlanding ritual was done by Dr. Shivananda C S (Principal) accompanied by GIIS students and teachers. This was followed by the flag hoisting ceremony and 'Jana Gana Mana' - National Anthem was sung unanimously in salutation to our National flag.

The Special message by the Principal was inspirational to all the children. He motivated the students to take responsibility of keeping their surroundings clean, to save energy and electricity, to excel in academics by being brave to face failure and march with confidence to achieve success in life. He told the students that the virtues of becoming a global citizen could be practised by all the students through random acts of kindness and helping others with a smile. The concept of rain water harvesting was an inspiring call by the Principal and few children requested their parents to get it installed in their society to save water. Students were thrilled about the nationalistic zeal and shared their vision to make the world a better place to live through peace and love. Parents appreciated the wonderful programme organized in school for spreading the message of patriotism among children.

The Cultural Programme spotlighted the freshness of the freedom that we Indians breathe each day. The charismatic dance performances by the boys as well as the girls were appreciated and applauded by all the parents. The medley song presentation beautifully narrated the patriotism running in the mind and soul of every Indian. There was a theatrical skit by students to depict the relentless struggle of the freedom fighters and the joy of attaining the freedom- the birth right.

The Fancy Dress competition based on the Independence theme had many participants and one could actually see the smart GIISians of Grades 1-5 represent Nehru ji, Gandhi Ji, Jhansi ki Rani, Bhagat Singh and many more heroes whose names are inscribed in gold to mark their selfless contribution towards gifting the precious freedom to Indians. GIIS worldwide instils the qualities of good human with the help of Mahatma Gandhi Center for Universal Values (MGCUV). On 15th August, every GIISian at GIIS Whitefield took the pledge to become responsible Indian citizens and spread the message of humanity around the world. Jai Hind.
