Grade 8 students presented the Global Sun Temperature Project brilliantly, as part of GIIS Global Student Exchange Series

The Inter-GIIS Global Student Exchange (GSE) Series was conducted for the Grade 8 students of GIIS Bengaluru, GIIS Surat and GIIS Punggol on the topic Global Sun Temperature in the month of July, 2018.

As part of the project, they had measured the temperature and recorded the number of minutes of sunlight per day over a common week in their respective school campus. Later they had to compare and contrast the results with other two campuses. They also determined as to how proximity to the equator affected the average daily temperature and hours of sunlight and discussed the reasons. The final presentation by the campuses was on July 24th, 2018.

An exclusive GSE Facebook community page was created to showcase the activity photos and videos of respective campuses. The Global Sun Temperature Project showcased creative ideas that included GIIS Weather Station, models to show the climate changes, survey to understand the changes in the weather conditions, demonstrations of the various instruments used to measure temperature and even a visit to the India Meteorological Department in Bengaluru.

Their final presentations were detailed and showcased their research in the various aspects pertaining to temperature in their city, the causes of climate changes and the measures taken to prevent the adverse effects of temperatures in the cities. All the teams were confident while sharing the facts and they also shared models in order to show the climate change over the years. The question answer sessions were very insightful too.

The judges  Mr. Ganesh Sharma (Principal, GIIS Noida) and Mr. Abhishek Mukherjee (National Admissions Head, GIIS India) gave their valuable inputs, words of appreciation to all the teams for their dedication and team work. They were happy to see the level of enthusiasm in the students as could be seen in the Facebook page activity postings and during the final presentations.  Ms. Sunita Jaisingh (National Academic Head, GIIS India) appreciated the efforts of all the students and the teachers who have guided them best. She motivated the students all through the project right from the start with encouraging words for their zeal in their learning activities.

GIIS Bengaluru students came first, followed by GIIS Punggol and GIIS Surat, who shared the second position. This was a great learning experience as students could express their views and interact with GIISians across various campuses on the wonderful project on Global Sun Temperature.  Going forward, all GIIS campuses can showcase their respective GSE projects on this exclusive FB community group
{ https://www.facebook.com/groups/407321139774580/ }, created to host and share all  GIIS Global Student Exchange programmes.
