First batch of Hindustan Scouts and Guides with 65 students, felicitated

BENGALURU, 11 APRIL, 2019 - Once a Scout, you are always a Scout. - Dr. Shivananda C S

Global Indian International School Whitefield, Bangalore is proud to announce the beginning of Hindustan Scouts and Guides Unit in the school campus. Recognised by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Government of India, there were 65 GIISians who successfully completed the three day Praveshika Training and Rajya Puraskar Preparation Camp (3rd to 5th April, 2019), and earned the prestigious title of a ‘Guide’ or a ‘Scout’.

There was the formal Lighting of the lamp ceremony and Mr. Rajiv Bansal - Director - Operations, Global Indian International School, India was the Chief Guest to encourage the aspiring scouts and guides cadets of GIIS. Dr. Shivananda C S (Principal), Ms. Aracha Sinha (Academic Coordinator) and the Team of trainers from Scouts and Guides - (Mr. Kishore Singh Chauhan (National Executive Director - Hindustan Scouts and Guides), Mr. Ansar Pasha (Head Quarter Commissioner - Hindustan Scouts and Guides, Karnataka), Ms. Soumya M (State Training Commissioner, Guides) and Mr. Ali (Asst. Training Commissioner, HAM Radio Trainer were all present at the event. There was the Flag Hoisting ceremony to formally start the adventurous and energetic three day camp.

Scouting is a movement that aims to support young people in their physical, mental and spiritual development, that they may play constructive roles in society, with a strong focus on the outdoors and survival skills. During the 3 days, the students learned a lot about the significance of HSG in terms of bravery and proactive actions towards serving the society. The foundation course comprised of theory sessions, fun with semaphore and they also learned how to do tent pitching during camping. The students enjoyed the art of cooking without fire and a lot of other life skills training and use of compass and HAM (Home Amateur Mechanic) radio.

The Valedictory programme of GIIS Scouts and Guides - first batch, was on 5th April, 2019. Mr. K S Chauhan, National Head for Hindustan Scouts and Guides (HSG) and his team addressed the Chief Guests - Mr. Sudi Suresh (Vice President), Mr. Srikanth B V (State Treasurer), Ms. Jyothi Rao (State Secretary) and Ms. Varsh (Hqr. Commissioner).

All the 65 students were felicitated with the prestigious scarf that certified them as part of the HSG. Parents were also present to witness the programme and be part of the same. The students took the pledge by placing their hands on the HSG flag. Special awards were given to the students based on their performance in various activities and other parameters by the heads of the HSG. The teachers-in-charge from GIIS - Mr. Ashok, Mr. Lokesh and Ms. Swati Kiran were felicitated for their passion and dedication towards HSG and helping the team in imparting the knowledge onto the students in the best way. Special gratitude was offered to Dr. Shivananda C S (Principal) and Academic Coordinators - Ms. Aracha Sinha, Ms. J Anuradha for their support and guidance.

Principal Sir was very happy to see the smart students own their title ' Guide' and ' Scout' after 3 days of training and learning. A proud moment for  all the parents! A big thanks to the team of HSG trainers - Mr. Asif Panda, Ms. Soumya M, Mr. Anjum, Ms. Ranjitha, Mr. Moula Ali and Ms. Tabassum lead by Mr. K S Chauhan. This is indeed the beginning of a new era of leadership and students will pass on their learnings to others by taking up new responsibilities and contributing towards the vision of creating global citizens at GIIS.
