The answers are definitely going to be an inspiration for many more aspiring writers to manifest their dream as an author or novelist with profound style of storytelling.
- When did you first realize that you wanted to be a writer?
Writing is not something I want to do; it’s something I have to. It had always been a part of my life and I have been writing since as long as I can remember. - Who was inspiration to become an author?
My dad, D. Narayana Moorthy, who encouraged my reading and writing to a full extent and provided every necessary base for me to develop and flourish in the passion of my life. - What is your favourite childhood book?
My favourite childhood book is the chronicles of Narnia - Which is your favourite writing choice?
I write all genres, but I love historic fiction. - What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before writing a book?
For this book, I spent two months before starting to write and gain all the information and ideas necessary for a basic plot line. Research continues throughout the whole writing process. - When did you start writing the first draft and through which medium?
I started writing the first draft of the guardian of Adiroch in January 2018, on a school rough notebook. - How well did you plan to invest your time in writing?
As a school student, my agenda is unpredictable. So I cannot assign a specific timing for writing. I write whenever I get the chance to. - How do you select the names of your characters?
Choosing names for characters is an aspect of writing which is always hard. I have spent hours browsing through baby name websites and such, but occasionally a name just clicks in my head. Drake was one of those names. - Tell us about how you decided on the final publisher?
My father approached many publishers and he decided to go with blue rose publishers, the reason being the quality and reputation of the publishing company. - Suggestions on how to get your book published.
The main thing to remember is to never let your story go. You have to keep at it until it’s done. So persistence is one thing that helps you throughout the whole process from writing to publishing. - How many times was your manuscript edited before the final copy?
My manuscript was edited five times before printing. - How long does it take you to write a book?
The Guardian of Adiroch took nearly one year to complete. - What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?
As soon as I get home from school, I spend a few minutes to myself to cool off. After that I study for a few hours. I usually leave my writing to the night, so it doesn’t interrupt my school work. - Do you believe in writer’s block?
I absolutely, one hundred per cent believe in writer’s block. It’s not a fun thing to go through. - What type of support did you receive from your family and friends?
My family is the reason my story is now a book. Their support is the difference between success and failure. My friends are no different. I received nothing but positive encouragement from them. - How does it feel to be the first GIIS student to have published a book?
I have a whirlwind of different emotions, but the one feeling I have above all is gratefulness. I am grateful to my family, friends, school and my country for being the reason that I was able to achieve this. - What is your inspiring message for young readers?
Never let anything get in the way of your dreams.
