Cultural Festival – A memorable visit to 29 States and 7 Union Territories in 3 hours

BENGALURU, 6 NOVEMBER, 2018 - The Cultural Festival organized at Global Indian International School, Whitefield was truly a celebration of Indian traditions and cultures. A very important topic as part of Life Science studies, the students were able to showcase all the 29 States and 7 Union Territories in the various classrooms with a sense of pride and feeling of belongingness. The Lighting of the Lamp ceremony was conducted by Dr. Shivananda C S (Principal), Chief Guest - Mr. Ramprakash (GIIS Infrastructure Partner), Coordinators and teachers. The Welcome song was mesmerizing and then students gave a special salutation to Lord Ganesha through a classical devotional dance. Mr. Ramprakash shared his views about the Cultural Festival and the need to teach children about the significance of Indian cultural accomplishments and strong traditional values.

There was a special message by Dr. Shivananda on Cultural Festival: “The only culture on earth which has survived and now thriving even after innumerable foreign invasion is the great Indian culture; it is our duty and responsibility to help our young generation to understand and appreciate the sense and sensibility of our tradition and culture. It is heartening to see GIIS teachers and students together have made a great effort to imbibe Indian culture in a joyful way.”

As the Cultural Festival commenced with the guidance of teachers, the students depicted the geographic location, tourist places, famous personalities, ancient artefacts, painting, traditional costumes, accessories, jewellery and the famous cuisine of the States that they represented.

The fiesta was witnessed by more than 1500 parents, who got the opportunity to savour more than 300 varieties of Indian cuisines from North, South, East and West. It was a rare occasion to see all States and culture in one platform.

The parents were all high praises for all the students. There were some parent volunteers for this event and their contribution was highly appreciated by the Principal and the teachers.
