Curious minds made to think out-of-the-box through exciting activities

The Thinking Thursday activities for students of Grades 1-5 of Global Indian International School, Whitefield have been always benefitting our students in building a strong foundation to enhance their analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills. Teachers come up with interesting and mindful activities for the curious students to help them understand these activity-based scenarios.

The concept of refraction never seemed this interesting until Grade 1 students did a nice experiment using readily available things at home like paper, a glass of water, straw, and so on. They also did the pepper-soap experiment to understand the importance of washing hands with soap and keep germs away. The process of capillary action was understood by Grade 2 students through the travelling waters experiment. In another activity, children understood how to create a mini-tornado using the things available at home. Grade 3 kids did the water bottle fountain experiment to understand that air pressure pushes equally in all directions. The students liked the colourful layering of liquids in a bottle activity and observed the comparative densities of various liquids.  Students of Grade 4 explored Newton's Third Law of Motion ("for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction") by building a hovercraft. Grade 5 students found crushing a bottle very easy and the logic was because of the air pressure created using ice water outside and hot water inside. In another experiment that ignited their curiosity, they made a coloured iced sculpture to observe and learn that salt speeds up the melting of ice.

Thinking Thursday activities always help our students to think out-of-the-box and we at GIIS always encourage teaching new methods of learning concepts and theories.
