Welcoming many more accomplishments, this Spring

Dear Parents,

February is a month to bid goodbye to the winter and usher in the spring. It is also a month to reflect on the dreams that were woven in the month gone by and start acting on them.

GIIS Bannerghatta won an award in the Promise V 2020 which was instituted by the Global Schools Foundation.  Performance-Oriented Management and Information System for Education (PROMISE), an award-winning measurement tool for measuring organisational performance, was created in 2009 by Global Centre for Excellence in Education (GCEE), a dedicated team at GSF, that foresees quality management not only in the area of academics but other aspects of school as well. GIIS Bannerghatta won in the “Customer Focus" reinforcing the unrelenting trust placed on us our parent and student community. With this win, we not only improved our overall Education Excellence scores but also proved our commitment towards the GIIS excellence journey.

We continued on the path of effective student engagement with diverse activities. As part of the, I Care initiative students from the pre-primary segment learnt the concept of a water cycle little deeds go a long way in making a difference to the environment and GIIS follows this maxim to the hilt. Celebrations were the order of the day as International Festival Day was observed giving a world view to the little minds with masquerades for Carnival of Brazil, Venetian Masks (Carnival of Venice). This not only was fun and stimulating but also enhanced students’ awareness levels about the world around them.

The Math Magic and Thinking Thursday Activities for all grades when the student’s appetite for innovation and sets them thinking critically while also giving them a hands-on experience. Be it measuring household things with a measurement of a card or solving fraction puzzles, students enjoyed them thoroughly.

With exams round the corner, GIIS Bannerghatta has made sure that the conduct of assessments which are an integral part of the education is not compromised during the virtual mode. We conducted a math proficiency test in which most of our students did exceptionally well. Revision classes are in full swing with performance enhancement classes conducted for Grades 3, 4, and 5 as well to bridge gaps if any. We have also started conducting mock exams on the New Online Examination Portal Ekalvvya to familiarize students with a robust online assessment system.

To sum up, the month has kept us on our toes and we are all geared up for the final lap of this momentous academic journey.

Regards,

Dr. Sharmila Mallick Choudhuri
