Students at GIIS Bannerghatta celebrate Book Week

"If you are going to get anywhere in life, you have to read a lot of books."

                                                                                 -Roald Dahl

Reading has many advantages. Right from stimulating brain and boosting focus to improving language, vocabulary, and memory, reading is one of the most beneficial habits to develop in one’s life. At GIIS Bannerghatta, we inculcate reading habit as early as at pre-primary level and continuing our efforts, we organised “Book Week” for the tiny tots to dive deep into the world of enriching books.

GIIS Bannerghatta is filled with peaceful, green spaces and scenic beauty and our teachers made sure that every day of the Book Week is made special utilizing these areas. On Day 1, students were taken out to read in the open Amphitheatre while basking in the sunshine and enjoying open spaces and lush green expanse. Day 2 was all about students picking up their favourite books from the school’s library and reading it out loud in front of their peers. This activity not only helped the students develop reading habit but also encouraged them to sharpen their public speaking skills.

Day 3 comprised of Bookmark making activity and kids surprised us with their creativity by coming up with the most unique and colourful bookmarks we have ever seen. On the final day of the Book Week, children were introduced to world’s most famous authors. The idea behind this activity was to let the students learn about the journey of greatest creative minds and inspire them to begin their reading and writing journey.
