Restoring the magic of tourism, through the magnificence of Virtual educational tour

In the recent times, the virtual tour is getting popular among children of all age groups during these pandemic times, and it is next to real too. Global Indian International School, Bannerghatta organized a virtual educational excursion for the students of Grade 1 and 3. The children were very excited, and they enjoyed it as if they were visiting the places in reality.

Students of grade 1 enjoyed their virtual tour to Melbourne zoo in Australia. Children enjoyed watching the different animals in a zoo. The Melbourne zoo had its unique collection of animals and birds, and the virtual tour was almost as real as it could get! A 20-minute video of the zoo definitely captivated the minds of the children. A look at some unique animals like ring-tailed lemurs, a western lowland gorilla, pigmy hippopotamus, cotton-top tamarin, butterflies, elephants, giraffes, coati, platypus, penguins, and red panda brought smiles on their faces. Students were shared facts regarding the animals' natural habitats, their eating habits, and their unique nature.  It was a thorough fun-filled learning experience for all the students.

Students of Grade 3 visited the City of Jaipur, famously known as the “Pink City,” as part of their educational excursion. As part of their social studies subject, they were taken on a virtual tour to the most historical places in Jaipur. They got a chance to view some of the most amazing views of renowned royal places like Hawa Mahal that was built with a red and pink stone in 1799 by Maharaja Seviyan Singh and the Jantar Mantar the Royal Observatory Building using astronomical telescopes and scientific equipment to study natural phenomena, the World trade centre- with the attraction of underwater fantasy world. The children marveled watching the Jal Mahal a water palace with 5 storeyed buildings wherein 4 floors are known to be underwater, and only the top storey is exposed. The amazing virtual Puppet show- most popular in Rajasthan was a must-watch skill that depicted some animals and human figures around a story and folk song. Students loved watching the mighty elephant rides that were known as a mark of the opulence of ancient royal families, now one of the most preferred things to do by tourists when in Jaipur. The tour would be incomplete without the shopping and food delight, and so they were shown the best choices like Bandhani work on clothes, ornaments, footwear, and the traditional food delicacies.

It was both a learning and pleasure for the students, and even the parents appreciated the teachers for this fantastic idea of virtual educational excursion using the best of digital technology, to give a real tour experience right from their home.
