When talking about Academic quality and excellence at GIIS, one of the important subjects always in focus is Mathematics. When introducing the world of numbers to the small little cherubs, the approach has got to be more like fun and engaging. It has been seen that the teachers of GIIS Bannerghatta SMART Campus have always been successful in making the basic calculations easily understandable to the children, keeping in mind their tender age. The kids are very smart to observe, understand and remember the math logic explained to them through simple activities.

In the month of August, the curious Nursery kids identified numbers, counting and collecting objects around them. The children developed effective identification by looking at the number and counting objects. The KG 1 children pegged the cloth pegs on number cards thereby learning the identification as well as the number value. The activity ensured the development of numerical skills as well as fine motor skills since they were to make use of their little fingers to peg the cloth pegs. Our KG 2 kids became creative and artistic using play dough or clay and made little balls for the numbers shown, to count and identify the bigger number. Through these activities, the children developed numerical skills, the pre mathematical concept made clear, and also fine motor skills.

The parents have seen that the kids show great enthusiasm while doing such activities. The kids have shown a greater level of concentration and a longer duration of engagement with the focus on completing the tasks and showing the results with a great sense of pride. The appreciation cascading from parents as well as teachers makes the young aspiring mathematicians, smile and feel happy. Math accounts for a productive and fun day for the cute GIIS kindergarteners.
