The magnificence and significance of festivals have become a global highlight these days where people love to know about the festivals beyond their countries, across the globe and also get to see them as a tourist.
To celebrate International Festival Day, the Pre Primary students of GIIS, Bannerghatta SMART Campus were excited as they got to be part of the Carnival of Rio and Carnival of Venice. An international festival brings diverse communities together to have fun and experience the music, dance, foods, and arts of different cultures. Festivals can be large, multi-day affairs or a smaller event such as a luncheon or dinner at a community centre, school, religious institution, or park.
Our students had a great time witnessing the glimpses of these two carnivals as showcased during their virtual classes, by their teachers.
The little ones of kindergarten were curious to know about the specialties of festivals that are popular in foreign countries. They loved the idea of festivals because of the colours, dance, and music. The Carnival in Rio de Janeiro is a much-awaited festival that comes just before Lent in the enthralling city of Brazil. Tourists visit the place to witness the colourful floats, revellers along with the traditional dance and music. The Carnival involves street parades so the city is the most coveted destination during this festival. The Carnival of Venice is very special annual festival in the awe amazing royal city of Venice, Italy. It is popular for classy masks, made with artistic shades and from materials like porcelain, leather, and even glass.
As part of the activities around this theme, kids made things that made them feel as though they were in these cities. The nursery class kids made beautiful colourful masquerade masks of Brazil to symbolize Rio Carnival. K1 loved creating the Venetian masks of Venice and K2 creatively made and flaunted the Italy flag as the main attractions seen in the Carnival of Venice.
The masks were definitely colourful, creative, and also another good add-on to their bag of playtime goodies.
