GIIS kids catch up with real world situations through Mock United Nations (MUN) activity

The world has become a global village and no age is too young to prepare for the future. For our students at GIIS, a Model United Nations (MUN) conference serves as an ideal stepping stone into the global arena. Students take on the roles of delegates, and speakers representing different countries and work together with other students from different backgrounds to take part in discussions and work towards a solution.

Students of Grade 5 at GIIS Bannerghatta SMART campus got one such opportunity through the virtual MUN organised for them on March 12, 2021.  They were given the topic “Health Infrastructure Readiness for the current pandemic and preparedness for the future”. It was a well–timed topic which gave the students an opportunity to read up on the readiness and the importance of enhancing Health Infrastructure in the wake of the current pandemic and effective ways in which potential health crises can be averted. They posed as delegates from various countries such as China, Australia, The United States of America, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Singapore, and of course India. Each student read up extensively on the country assigned to them and gained valuable insights into the topic.

This activity also put to test their oratory skills and made sure that they blossomed into confident and articulate speakers. United Nations didn’t just remain a Chapter in SST but students got a hands-on feel of what it is to represent a country on a global platform. We are very proud to say that we saw many budding diplomats take shape through this activity.
