The best way to acknowledge the love from Nature is to give back love with care and affection.
When children take up the mission to protect the environment, the result always inspires the world in a bigger way. GIIS Bannerghatta students from Nursery onwards, made the World Environment Day, a special one for their family and also for all the teachers of GIIS, through their happy participation in the activities planned for them.
"Nature gives us the essence of celebrating life to the fullest. Even while we are focused doing various roles during the day, it is always good to take time and take care of our environment. We should always sensitize the younger generation to make friends with Nature. "
– Dr. Sharmila Mallick Choudhuri (Principal, GIIS Bannerghatta)
The little ones of the Nursery watered the plants in their home with so much care. K1, K2, and Grade 1 kids enjoyed the ‘sowing a seed’ activity and this is an ongoing project wherein they are to water it regularly and see for themselves, how the seed grows into a tiny sapling and then a plant. Grade 2 did the sowing of a seed in a different way, they did it in an alphabet tray. Here again, they were excited to see the process, as the seed germinates and grows further.
A unique activity was shared with Grade 3 and 4, the hydroponics method of farming, where the idea is to grow plants in water, sunlight, and basically a process of soil-less gardening. The process was explained to students and they seem all happy as they tried the new way of growing plants. Organic liquid manure is very common these days. A chemical-free and healthy way to nourish the plants. And Grade 5 and 6 students were proud of themselves when they made the liquid using fruit and vegetable peel at home, also distributed it among the neighbours. The activities for all levels were very thoughtfully selected to help all our students understand the importance to reconnect and restore Nature.
