".......At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom...."

These words spoken on the eve of Independence Day in 1947 by the first Prime Minister of independent India- Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru became immortal in the pages of history and continue to ignite patriotism and pride towards our motherland in the heart of every Indian. Keeping the same spirit alive and singing the tunes of bravery and selflessness of our great freedom fighters, GIIS Bannerghatta celebrated the 76th Independence Day- Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with remarkable spirit and enthusiasm.

Along with the presence of students, teachers, parents, and our respected Principal ma'am- Dr. Sharmilla Mallick Chodhuri, this occasion was attended and graced by Padma Shri awardee Mr. Shekhar Naik- former captain of the Indian national blind cricket team who encouraged the students with his inspiring words and filled the audience with positivity and high spirits.

The celebration started with flag hoisting and lamp lighting ceremony by our esteemed chief guest after which our principal ma’am delivered an inspiring speech that moved everyone. Going ahead, our talented students presented many outstanding skits, dance performances and musical masterpieces that reminded us of the great sacrifices of our freedom fighters and ignited the flame of patriotism in our hearts.

Towards the end of the event, everyone stood up in the honour of the high waving tricolour and sang the national anthem with incredible spirit and respect. The ceremony was concluded with a warm thankyou note by Principal ma’am and academic leadership who applauded the great efforts of the students and teachers in steering the celebration towards such a grand success.
