Republic Day a red-letter day imprinted in the country’s history as a republic and the enacting of our Constitution. A day as important as this merits the need to remember and revalidate our goals as a country and what better way to do that than our generation next. Awareness about one’s country and its evolution to what it is today is of paramount importance in educating and instilling the right values in children.
The 72nd Republic Day was made special at GIIS Bannerghatta to honour the nation. Principal, Dr. Sharmila Malick Choudhary unfurled the National Flag at the school and made sure the tradition and legacy of holding the nation with respect and pride continued.
The tiny tots of pre-primary found a variety of ways to show respect to the nation, be it with crafting colourful paper flowers made of the tricolour, making an edible India Gate with finely chopped vegetables and herbs, and just soaking in the patriotic flavours was their way of getting to know of the flag and an iconic monument that stands for national pride and sacrifice for the country.
The primary students made sure they added to the celebrations on this glorious day. Grade 1 students watched a video on the significance of the day, made a tricolour papercraft, and played the guessing game getting to know their national leaders. Grade 2 students dressed up in the hues of the flag and spoke on what it means to belong to India. Grade 3 students showed their creative side and picked up resources in the kitchen to make tricolour sandwiches, dosas, and the like. They also spoke about national symbols and understood the importance of the Constitution. In addition, all the students of Grade 1, 2, and 3 sang and danced to patriotic songs.
Grade 4 students wore patriotism on their sleeves with handcrafted tricolour caps that showcased their love for the country. Grade 5 students explored their artistic side by making posters which depicted the theme of patriotism. Both the classes also watched an informative video on the Making of the Indian Constitution.
To sum up, children expressed their love for their nation in myriad ways and added to the glory.
