The month of August brought many surprises and excitement at GIIS Bannerghatta. With our teachers and staff members putting in all their hardwork and efforts towards enriching the students’ learning experiences, we are forging forward with great spirit and enthusiasm.

Our Pre-primary wing had the most joyous time this month participating in an array of fun-filled activities. Starting with Fashion fiesta activity, our tiny tots dressed in beautiful ethnic attires to signify the different cultures and traditions of India.

Next in line was Human Values week, an activity to learn the importance of different human values like- Kindness, Sharing, Gratitude, Respect, and Discipline. With each day dedicated to one specific value, tiny tots enthusiastically performed various exercises around the school premises and developed a great understanding of the significance of each value in a person's life. 

Is Maths difficult? Well, not for our kiddos who learn it through engaging Math Magic activities! Our Kindergarteners got around some pre-maths concepts like classification of shapes, ordering, and number patterns under Math Magic activities and had a great learning experience.

From Pretend play week, friendship day, photography day, happiness week and a special raksha bandhan celebration, the pre-primary segment had a blast at the campus during the entire month.

World peace is extremely important for the growth and prosperity of the entire global community and it is the only path that will lead to more social cohesion and interactions that will benefit everyone. Students of GIIS Bannerghatta were sensitized to the significance of peace and harmony on the occasion of Peace Day celebration where they performed many activities expressing their ideas and got familiar with its need in today’s world.

Remembering the sacrifices of our great freedom fighters and singing the tunes of their bravery and selflessness, we celebrated the 76th Independence Day- Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with remarkable zeal and fervour. Along with the presence of students, teachers and parents, this occasion was graced by Padma Shri awardee Mr. Shekhar Naik- former captain of the Indian national blind cricket team and it was our honour to have him in the campus as our chief guest. On this day, students showcased brilliant cultural performances and presented a magnificent show that will be remembered and cherished for many years to come.

Conducting activities and exercises around science concepts is a great way to stimulate scientific thinking in students and boost their curiosity. Our middle school students participated in many science activities to explore and understand concepts with more practicality. Where Grade 8 students made a hydraulic press to demonstrate Pascal's law, Grade 7 constructed a balloon car to understand how air pressure works and also discussed the laws of motion. Our Grade 6 kids are learning about light and the nature of images and so, they made a pinhole camera to get around the topic in a fun and interesting way.

 The highlight of the month was definitely our first-ever Inter School Competition which was organised to commemorate the completion of 75 years of independence of India- Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, wherein 188 students from 5 different schools came down to our campus and participated in many competitions showcasing their talents and creativity.

This star-studded extravaganza was spread across 4 competitions in the Junior (Grade 3-5) and Senior (Grade 6-8) categories and attended by distinguished guests who added to the glory of the event and distributed the trophies and certificates to the winners and participants. Receiving such a great response from the attendees, we look forward to conducting this one-of-a-kind event the next year too with even more zest and vigour.
