An Inspiring Virtual Storytelling Session for Kindergarten students

Global Indian International School, India organized a unique Storytelling Webinar for kindergarten children of 3 to 6 years, on the 12th of September 2020. The theme of the story was Jungle Mania – a Virtual Storytelling Session. No wonder, stories are the most powerful form of human communication. And, stories are believed to connect us to our past and our future while always making us happy in the present moment too.

Ms. Lavanya Prasad, the storyteller, took the fascinating story of adventure and imagination. She is an eminent and passionate storyteller, an engineer, and founder of the storytelling organization – Tale’s scope. She is popular for her long-lasting connections through her interactive stories with senior citizens, teenagers, and young children helping them connect to self and things around them through stories.

A warm welcome with the evolution of storytelling helped to strike an instant connect with parents and kids to experience the magic of storytelling online. A brief about the Global Montessori Plus curriculum offered by Global Indian International School was introduced, the concept of storytelling being an integral part of the curriculum to help the tiny tots learn faster through interesting activity-centric stories.

Ms. Lavanya ignited a spark of curiosity from the moment she started her narrative to create an aura of enthusiasm through her high energy packed storytelling session with colorful props to add more liveliness. The perfect voice modulations according to the characters of the story highlighted the mark of a perfectionist. She also sang rhymes and requested the parents and children to repeat with her, making the session very interactive with the same spirit as would have been in a regular face-to-face session.

Dr. Sharmila Mallick Choudhuri (Principal, GIIS Bannerghatta) thanked everyone who had attended the webinar and she emphasized storytelling being one of the best practices across all GIIS India campuses to help the curious little minds learn and imbibe the lessons with clarity and ease.

This was a very exciting session for the kids and nearly 600 parents from across India had joined to help their tiny tots enjoy the one-hour session into the world of an exciting jungle trail and learn values of friendship, courage, and wisdom. Learning through storytelling was surely a thoughtful initiative by GIIS, undoubtedly the best learning methodology to entertain and engage with the kids.
