Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year across our nation to appreciate and acknowledge the dedicated efforts and hard work of teachers in moulding our personalities, nurturing our talents, and honing our capabilities. “If a country is to be corruption-free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the father, the mother, and the teacher.” This quote of India’s missile man and our former President, Lt. A. P. J Abdul Kalam,  epitomizes the influence of teachers on every individual’s mind and society as a whole. Standing just next to the parents in the league, teachers are truly an integral part of everyone’s life.

This year, the Teachers’ Day Celebration at GIIS Ahmedabad was organized on the theme- 'HUM TUM (You and Me)' by the students of GMP to Grade 12. On this special day, the teachers and students came together to create unforgettable memories and celebrate their special bond. Through the activity, ‘My Expressions: Let me open my heart,’ the students showed their respect, expressed their gratitude, and showered their love and affection on their beloved teachers who selflessly work throughout the year for their all-round development. They presented songs, dances, enactments and conveyed their messages through cards, posters, and emojis. The parents also sent lots of appreciation messages to the teachers, which truly made them feel special.

Besides this, a special Teachers’ Day Programme was organized for all the staff members in the school campus.

The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by Principal Mr. Caesar D’silva, Vice Principal Ms. Gayatri Moras, and Headmistress Ms. Ruchika Dhingra, amidst shloka rendition by the music team.

Ms. Ruchika Dhingra, Headmistress extended a warm welcome to all the staff members. A special candlelight tribute was paid to the teachers of Afghanistan who are fighting against all odds to provide education to the children of their nation.

Each teacher was conferred with an interesting title under the ‘Genies of GIIS’ segment. The contribution of the teachers in the milestones achieved by the school in the past two years was recognized and applauded. The programme had many fun-filled activities like group songs, karaoke, live solo singing and dances, a humorous skit on the ‘Effects of online teaching’, Quiz- How well do I know GIIS' , stand-up comedy acts, mono acts, poem recitation, fun games, and fashion show by the teachers. The winners of each event were given prizes. 

Mr. Caesar D’silva, Principal also gave away the certificates to the ‘Employee of the Month’ awardees. In his motivational message, he said, “I am extremely proud of the dedicated, passionate, and vibrant team of teachers at GIIS Ahmedabad. We value and appreciate the immense contribution and commitment of each of our staff members. On this occasion, I would like to convey my best wishes to our teachers for continuing to be role models, inspiring generations of students, and making a difference in their lives.” 

The programme ended with the wishing notes by Ms. Gayatri Moras, Vice Principal, Ahmedabad, and the Principal’s announcement of the Teachers’ Day gifts by the HO. Thereafter, the teachers were treated to a sumptuous lunch.

The Teachers’ Day celebration at GIIS Ahmedabad filled the hearts of all the staff members with gratitude and a feeling of pride in being an important part of the GIIS family.
