November was the month of academic excellence, achievements and events for GIIS Ahmedabad

Dear Parent,

Greetings from GIIS Ahmedabad!

November 2023 was full of festivities and a promise of a new beginning in academics, achievements, and events. During this month, the students organized various events based on our 9GEMS pedagogy like the annual sports day, assemblies to celebrate Diwali, children’s day, and cultural fest. Alongside, our students excelled and made us proud in several competitions and tournaments like APQO International Conference 2023 and emerging as champions in the CBSE West Zone Chess Tournament. We bring to you a reflection on November’s academics, achievements, and events.

GMP students organized an exhibition displaying some artifacts such as diyas, toran, and other decorative items. Grade 2E morning shift students presented an assembly depicting the significance of all five days of the festival including Dhanteras, Narkachaudas, Diwali, New Year (Bestu Varas of Gujarati), and Bhai Dooj. It sensitised the students about the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.

The cultural festival was organized by GIIS Ahmedabad to sensitize students of grades 1 and 2 about the diverse culture of India. The students introduced their respective states with their geographical locations, places to visit, traditional costumes, cuisines, languages spoken and famous personalities.

In Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA), GIIS Ahmedabad successfully conducted the 10th Annual Sports Day for more than 400 participants of the senior segment showcasing their sportsmanship and athletic skills. The day started with a 100m dash race, followed by a 50m X 4 relay race, dribble run, long jump, high jump, ball throw, and shot-put.

With immense pride, we present Sneha Chaudhary, Suhani Agrawal, and Lakshya Mittal with teacher mentor Mr. Amit Singh who showcased their commitment to excellence at the 28th APQO International Conference 2023 held in Kathmandu, Nepal. They were felicitated with the ‘4-Star Performer’ and ‘Gold Performer Award’ for their project on Sustainable And Green Education - SAGE - which inculcated values of discipline among the students of GIIS Ahmedabad.

Complimenting the Co-Curricular Activities (CCA), our students brought laurels for GIIS Ahmedabad in the various district, state and national levels tournaments. Our young chess masters, the U-14 boys, represented the school in the CBSE West Zone Chess Tournament and emerged as chess champions. Margi Chudasma won the board prize by scoring a perfect 5 points out of 5 rounds by winning all the tournament.

The star kid of GIIS Ahmedabad – Ayaan Chettiar – was selected for the Tokyo Metropolitan Inbound Exchange Program 2023 and was announced as the winner of the spot quiz on the Constitution of India by Ambassador, Mr. Sibi George.

Alongside these activities, we have successfully conducted the pre-board exams of Grades 10 and 12. I wish them good luck with their result and advise them to study hard to gain knowledge. We must always remember that there is no shortcut to hard work, and with this note, I would like to share my best wishes for their upcoming board exams and future.

GIIS Ahmedabad truly believes in the holistic development of a child under our 9GEMS pedagogy. We emphasize academic excellence but also focus on other aspects of a student’s growth including sports, skill development, leadership skills, artistic and universal values.

With regards,

Caesar D’silva

Principal, GIIS Ahmedabad
