Ahmedabad: “A mother is more precious and valuable than all the riches in the world.” - Mothers Day quote by Violet James
Do you remember the Peace Corps adopted the slogan ‘The toughest job you’ll ever love?’ The adage can be most appropriate for motherhood. Mothers never get days off, nor do they get handsome salaries or generous pensions. Instead, their rewards come in the form of sweet kisses, necklaces, and the satisfaction of seeing her children grow up to be happy and healthy adults.
The mothers are our superheroes and biggest supporters, but we usually do not express our gratitude for their sacrifice and love. Instead, sometimes she is rewarded with bitterness. So on this Mother’s Day, the GIIS Ahmedabad students dedicated a special day to celebrate motherhood as a gesture to say thank you to their mothers.

Mother’s Day is a special way to cherish the bond between a mother and her children. Mothers are the backbone of the family. They are nourishing, encouraging, supportive, protective, courageous, and a great guide in their children's lives.
Adoring the love of the mothers, the students of GIIS Ahmedabad commemorated Mother's Day on 29th April 2022. The students of K1, K2, and Nursery selected a perfect Mother’s Day theme - WOW MOM! The tiny tots gathered in an assembly where they sang and danced to the songs of mothers. They made a badge with a #I Love Mom message. They actively participated in straw beading activity, making delicate and incomparable necklaces for their mothers.
The students of Classes 1 and 2 expressed their gratitude to their mothers through ‘Jar Of Love’ cards. The cards were made using art and craft materials such as colours, ribbons, beads, artificial flowers, and decorative materials.
During the Co-Curricular Activity (CCA), the students of Grades 3 to 5 wrote letters of gratitude for their mothers in their English creative writing books. The children also affixed their photographs with their mothers to make it a remarkable experience for them.
The Principal of GIIS Ahmedabad, Mr. Caesar D’silva while addressing the students, reiterated the love of a mother for her children. He said, “A mother can take the place of all others but no one else can take her place.” He taught the students to respect their mothers and express their gratitude to them.
Mothers are special gifts from God. We believe that there is no way we can thank our mothers for all they do for us. Nevertheless, we must make it a habit of reminding ourselves of various sacrifices they have made while nourishing us - not only on Mothers Day but on all 365 days of the year.
