Megha Patel, Pre Primary Teacher at GIIS Ahmedabad is one teacher who continuously thinks out-of-the-box and adds a lot of innovation to her classrooms. Her mailbox and WhatsApp are flooded with messages of appreciation from the parents for her creative and inventive approach to teaching.
Megha is a Founder teacher of the school. She holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education from NZTC College, New Zealand, and has completed an Early Childhood Education Course (Online) from Gowrie (Victoria), Australia.
From the very first year of her service at GIIS Ahmedabad in the year 2014, she started contributing actively, preparing props and backdrops for the major events, assemblies, and competitions held at school and representing the school at the prestigious ‘Vibrant Gujarat Summit’.
The Warli paintings at the entrance and on the stage of the Mahatma Gandhi Centre for Universal Values located on the campus and the glass paintings in the reception area made by her on special occasions have been much appreciated by the visitors.
She had participated in the ‘Functional Classroom Competition’ held at GIIS Ahmedabad and was awarded the 1st position in 2016 and 2017 and the 2nd Position in 2019. Under her mentorship, her class had also bagged the ‘Green Ethics Best Class Award’ in 2019.
She contributed to preparing and also accompanied the students participating in RWCC 2017 in Singapore. She is a recipient of ‘Certificate of Achievement’ for her entry ‘Learning from Failures’ in the Teacher's category in RWCC.
She was a part of trainings held for parents of GIIS Ahmedabad as well as other schools in Phonics on behalf of GIIS.
She has anchored programmes like Grandparents’ Day, Virtual Sports Fest, Annual Day, GMP familiarization Workshop, and provide back-end technical support for the Graduation Day for K2.
Being an active team member of GALS 2020, she presented her ideas for Track 4B which include- electing CPO (Child Protection Officer), creating age-appropriate awareness sessions among children as well as parents to understand internet safety, the importance of digital footprints, celebrating safer internet day, creating digital passports and arranging sessions for parents having children below eight years. In this context, she took the initiative at the campus level to celebrate ‘Safer Internet Day’ in February 2021 for creating awareness among the children regarding various topics related to safety while using the internet.
During the Global Connect- Student Exchange Series, she was responsible for training the young quiz masters from GIIS Ahmedabad, who were greatly appreciated for their inimitable style and confidence.
She also prepared lesson plans and PPTs for the ‘Coding Class’ for the Nursery Segment besides the monthly GMP reports.
Recently, she played an instrumental role in the success of the PAN India GIIS Puppet Show hosted by GIIS Ahmedabad on the occasion of Dussehra. She prepared the PPTs, provided her voice-over, and extended a helping hand in the creation of the video for the Puppet Show, sharing music and background images.
This young and dynamic teacher has a ‘Never Say No’ attitude and believes in being a lifelong learner. For her dedicated service, she was recognized as the ‘Employee of the Month’ in June 2021 by the school.
