January 2025 at GIIS Nagpur: A Month of Learning, Celebrations and Growth

Dear Parents,

Warm Greetings!

As we step into a new month, I take great pride in reflecting on the vibrant and enriching experiences that made January 2025 truly special at GIIS Nagpur. Our journey this month has been one of exploration, celebration, and meaningful learning, fostering holistic growth among our students.

The month commenced with a delightful Pink Day celebration on January 10, where our Pre-Primary students engaged in immersive activities, discovering the beauty of the colour pink through art, nature walks, and collaborative learning. This hands-on approach enhanced their sensory development and creativity. Continuing the spirit of cultural appreciation, we celebrated the diverse harvest festivals of India on January 15. Our young learners gained valuable insights into traditions such as Makar Sankranti, Pongal, Lohri, and Bihu through engaging activities, reinforcing the importance of heritage and unity in diversity.

Our commitment to experiential learning was further emphasized through the Farmer’s Market iPlay activity, where students enthusiastically assumed the roles of farmers, vendors, and buyers, fostering skills in teamwork, communication, and basic economics. This interactive initiative provided a unique perspective on the contributions of farmers and the essence of commerce.

A significant milestone was achieved on January 23, as students from GIIS Nagpur, Hyderabad, and Malaysia collaborated in the Global Studies Exchange on "Animals." The exchange facilitated knowledge sharing, culminating in an exciting Show and Tell competition that nurtured research skills and global awareness. On the same day, our young scientists explored the intriguing concept of refraction through the Disappearing Penny experiment, making science both fun and engaging.

Patriotism and national pride filled the air on January 24, as our kindergarteners celebrated Pre-Republic Day with captivating performances and a heartwarming ramp walk as little freedom fighters. Their enthusiasm and innocence beautifully conveyed the values of unity, integrity, and perseverance. Additionally, our iCare initiative empowered students with knowledge of environmental issues through hands-on experiments, pollution catchers, and creative poster-making activities, instilling a sense of responsibility towards our planet.

January concluded on a high note with Math Magic Activity Day, where students from Pre-Primary to Grade 2 engaged in stimulating mathematical exercises, reinforcing key concepts through interactive play. The month ended with a serene and thoughtful celebration of Vasant Panchami on January 31, where students paid tribute to Goddess Saraswati, embracing the values of wisdom and learning.

A special highlight of the month was our ‘Author of the Month’ program, which featured the works of Sudha Murthy. Students explored her inspiring stories through various activities such as Grandparents’ Tales and Treasures, the Friendship Tree, and Character Card Creations, nurturing a love for literature while imbibing moral values.

As we embrace the months ahead, I encourage our students to continue their pursuit of knowledge, creativity, and compassion. Together, let us foster a dynamic learning environment that nurtures curiosity and excellence.

Warm regards,
