GIIS Ahmedabad’s Shlok Joshi get recognized by IASC for his discovery of the Main Belt Asteroid

The young scientist Shlok Joshi participated in an asteroid search campaign organized by International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC) powered by NASA. <a href="https://ahmedabad.globalindianschool.org/">GIIS Ahmedabad</a> is proud to share that the preliminary detection report prepared by him has been recognized as a provisional discovery of the Main-Belt asteroid 2022 HH5. It was found in the data provided by Pan-STARRS. He was a member of Team Pioneer representing STEM and Space.&nbsp;

The IASC is a science program that provides high-quality astronomical data to citizens around the globe. According to IASC, the preliminary detection is the first original observation of a new asteroid. The asteroid is observed for the second time in the next 7 to 10 days and thereafter, the detection is changed to provisional status by the Minor Planet Centre (MPC).&nbsp;

Sharing his experience, &ldquo;STEM classes by GIIS Ahmedabad were well planned and executed. My interest in STEM and Space developed after attending these classes. I would also like to thank Ms. Hetal Vora ma&rsquo;am, my mentor, for putting extra effort into enhancing my talent.&rdquo; Besides this, Shlok has also proved his mettle in academics by scoring 80% in the annual exams. GIIS Ahmedabad provides excellent opportunities to explore their talents, apart from giving them an excellent edge in academics.
