GIIS Ahmedabad student's lockdown experience published in a renowned newspaper

Shivakashi Gupta, a Grade 9 student of Global Indian International School, Ahmedabad made the school proud by getting her article selected and published in the “School is Cool” section of a prominent newspaper Times NIE (Newspaper in Education), which is an initiative by The Times of India.

Times NIE is a program that helps students ‘Stay Ahead’ and aims at making ‘Learning Fun’.  It introduces concepts that help individual growth and development beyond the school curriculum.

As a part of the program, Times NIE invites articles, stories, classroom discussions to boost the child's passion for learning while revealing hidden talent.

The article shares Shivakashi’s idea of the weekend plan with her best friends after eight long months of lockdown. Her thoughts and emotions were visible in the article as she recalled moments that brought her joy of learning when she used to go to school with her friends.

In addition to her well-known writing skills, Shivakshi has won many awards and accolades in categories such as a virtual fitness challenge, IMO Olympiad, Folk Dance among others.

Writing is a core skill that benefits students across the curriculum, K-12, and beyond. Moreover, writing also facilitates a person to think better. When student learn how to write, he or she becomes more capable of analyzing what they read, interpret, and think.
