GIIS Ahmedabad strengthens its commitment towards sustainable living on World Environment Day

Continuing its green journey, Global Indian International School, Ahmedabad celebrated World Environment Day virtually this year. We organized several activities to create awareness to conserve the mother Earth and its resources.

The theme for the event was "waste management" and focussed on the important role of  environment in supporting life on the Earth and human development. The day was celebrated with vigour amidst the lockdown. Students created awareness through various online activities like slogan writing, bookmark making, and tree plantation at their homes.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Caeser D’sliva, Principal, GIIS Ahmedabad said, "Going back to nature and connecting with it is all about living as naturally as possible, making most of the natural resources and energy available. The motive for the event was to inculcate students with values of conservation, respecting nature, being mindful of disposing of the waste, and encouraging them to reduce, reuse and recycle. Making simple modifications in our everyday life, we can all contribute to the cause of environment protection."

Students from Nursery to Grade 4 took part in the ‘Trashion Show’ dressed up in costumes made of trash materials and green attires while saying catchy slogans taught to them by the school.

To raise awareness of environmental protection and conservation among senior students, a Digital Collage Making Competition for Grades 5–7 and  Documentary Making Competition for Grades 8–12 were organized. The topics for both the activities were - COVID Waste Management and Rejuvenation of Environment as a positive effect of COVID.

Besides this, GIIS has launched a social media campaign #UnlearnTheUnacceptable in order to encourage students to develop some sustainable habits and to participate in a contest to earn the title of GIIS Green Warriors and win exciting prizes.

The activities helped the children hone their creative skills.
