“The power of giving is greater than the power of receiving.”
According to Norbert Harms, the ideal way to live is by sharing happiness. The Global Indian International School (GIIS), Ahmedabad believes that when we give smiles, we receive smiles. It is a priceless experience to bring smiles, joy, and happiness into someone’s life. In accordance with that, GIIS Ahmedabad organized a "Joy of Giving", and "Learning and Rejuvenating" week for students of GMP to Grade 5.
The students and parents created a Gullak at home for the underprivileged. Gullak was used to contribute chocolates, money, toys, biscuits, stationery, books, and more. The parents were requested to embed the values of compassion in their children by sharing the collected items with needy people.
During the ‘Act of Learning and Sharing - Nai Pehel’ students spent quality time with their helpers for the teaching and learning process. They taught them skills like singing, writing, reading, dancing, and more. GIIS Ahmedabad would like to imbibe the idea of equality and respect for all work in their students.
The contribution drive was planned for the students of GMP to Grade 2 wherein the parents could contribute a packet of Moong Dal or Rice (250 gm) and toys or a pair of clothes. The contributions made by parents were distributed in the slum areas by the teachers and student council to make their day happy and spread smiles.
Under the agenda of Joy of Reading, the students of Grades 3 to 5 exchanged books with their classmates and read together. They were asked to share the reading information with their fellow classmates which strengthened their bond of friendship.
