Festivity fervour at GIIS Ahmedabad on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami

To seek the blessings of Lord Krishna, GIIS Ahmedabad celebrated Janmashtami with devotion and enthusiasm. The theme for this special celebration was 'Values and Teachings of Lord Krishna'. The teachings of Lord Krishna signify virtues and values which can be inculcated in young children so that they become responsible human beings in the future. The objective of this flamboyant celebration was to inculcate values and spread happiness!

The students were dressed as Radhas and Krishnas with a beautiful and vibrant background at home to welcome the festival. A few children had created Jhaanki of the Gokul and Vrindavan villages with small cows, Gwals and Gopis.

Value-based sessions were conducted through stories, videos, and discussions in each class. The tiny tots of Nursery were taught the value of honesty emphasizing on  'Never tell a lie' and 'Always be truthful'. The Grade K1 and K2 students loved the famous story of Krishna and Sudama's true friendship. The Grade 1 students learnt about being as humble as Lord Krishna and the Grade 2 students were taught about kindness towards animals. The Grade 3, 4, and 5 students discussed the value of Mindfulness - to live in present, how to control anger, leadership, and respect. All the value-based sessions were from the life incidents of Lord Krishna.

The activity of creating footsteps leading towards home was also a great success. The parents of Nursery and K1 were happy and emotional on seeing the little footsteps of their children that brought divinity in their homes. Indeed, a pious moment.

The matkis decorated by K2 and Grade 1 students exhibited the creative skills of the little GIIS artists.  Any festival is incomplete without sweets. The young chefs of Grade 2 made chocolate ladoos to add sweetness to the festival. The students of Grade 3 to 5 participated in Hindola decoration, exploring different materials and using DIY concepts.

The devotional songs of Lord Krishna spread spirituality and Raas-leela on the beats of Janmashtami songs added to the festive spirit. The attraction of the day was Matki Phod, which symbolizes the mischief of Lord Krishna. An atmosphere of vibrancy and joy-filled in the homes of the students.

Mr. Caesar D’silva, Principal GIIS Ahmedabad conveyed his heartfelt greetings and blessed the students on this auspicious day. He congratulated and appreciated the efforts of the UNIVAL team in designing a well-crafted festival.
