August 2022 was a month of celebration, exhilaration and success at GIIS Ahmedabad

Dear Parent,

Greetings of the day!

The month of August has been full of excitement and learning at Global Indian International School (GIIS), Ahmedabad. It created opportunities for students to grow and evolve. Several events such as Investiture Ceremony, Rakshabandhan, Janmashtami, Independence Day, and Ganesh Chaturthi were organized by GIIS Ahmedabad which gave equal chances to all the students to participate actively.

GIIS Ahmedabad is now proud to introduce our Head Boy - Ganeev Tuteja, Grade 11 (Science), and Head Girl - Samiksha Dey, Grade 11 (Humanities). The position of Sports Captain and Vice Captain is held by Sanskar Patil and Vrisaan Patel, respectively. The student council was formed after democratic elections by the respective houses and these candidates were selected.

In order to strengthen the ideals of peace by the United Nations, GIIS Ahmedabad organized World Peace Day remembering the lives lost in the atomic attack on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Through a special assembly, K2B students spread a special message about peace through drama and dance performances. Students learned about the value of peace through short stories and a special video was displayed describing the motive of International Peace Day.

The Rakshabandhan celebration was organized at the campus. The little girls of GMP tied the sacred Rakhi to their school brothers and in return, the boys shared a token of love in the form of sweets with their sisters. Grade 1 and 2 students prepared “Rakhees” for the scrapbook, while students of Grade 3 to 5 wrote a letter for their siblings expressing their love and care.

Keeping up the spirit of 75th Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the students, parents, and teachers of GIIS Ahmedabad united together to pay tribute to the martyrs. The kindergarteners came to school donned in Tricolor traditional attire and stood together to form the number ‘75’ to represent the 75th Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. On 15th August 2022, GIIS Ahmedabad reunited the students, parents, and teachers to celebrate and hoist the Indian National Flag based on the theme ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’.

GIIS Ahmedabad students enthusiastically organized “Janmashtami - the birth occasion of Lord Krishna”, one of the most commemorated and famous reincarnations of Lord Vishnu. As per our ritual, the students started the celebration with prayer and blessings. The little ones of GMP who dressed as Radha and Krishna gave a traditional touch to the festival. A matki cutout was decorated and the idol of Lord Krishna was made using clay.

One of the achievements of the month was that ‘The knockout’ competition series was organized by Adani Sportsline in association with Radio Mirchi to promote and motivate the young generation about Indian sports and GIIS Ahmedabad was the venue partner of the ‘Little Giants’ Kho-Kho and Kabbadi Inter-school competition. The competition witnessed participation from  64 teams across Ahmedabad from 23rd to 28th August 2022.

Ganesh Chaturthi is an auspicious festival celebrated for 10 days across India to mark the birthday of Lord Ganesha. To seek his blessings, GIIS Ahmedabad organized Ganesh Chaturthi Mahotsav at the school campus. Teachers and students of the GMP segment celebrated the festival with dance and music and made Ganpati idols using Paper Mache. They also conducted an assembly wherein students enacted the childhood stories of Lord Ganesha and concluded it with Visarjan.

GIIS Ahmedabad congratulates the students who won the ‘Rock Your Feet’ dance competition judged by renowned choreographer Tushar Shetty. Also, kudos to the winners of the Bharat Vikas Parishad Singing Competition. The students of Grade 6 to 8 and Grade 9 to 12 secured the First position (primary category) and Third position (secondary category), respectively, in the patriotic song competition.

This month was indeed full of joy, celebration, exhilaration, and success. I would like to thank all the students, parents, teachers, and staff members for making this month so eventful!

Warm Regards,

Caesar D’silva
