The event was inspired by the famous artists around the world and recognizing their work. Inspired by the challenge of J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, GIIS Abu Dhabi Art Department planned to recreate a similar grand art event on this virtual platform. 12 Global school campuses participated in the competition.
Recreating Masterpieces is an art enrichment program that uses reproductions of fine works of art from different ears by role-playing. The socio economic and political background has been introduced to the students in a fun way through this program during the pandemic.
The categories were divided into Cocoon and Butterfly for the junior and senior entries respectively. Around 500 entries and out of those 100 were shortlisted. The best 22 were awarded. The entries and short list were a creative delight. The child thru this journey discovered both an understanding of art and how it can be creatively interpreted .
The guest of honour and judges for the event were Mr. K. P. Reji, a contemporary Indian artist and Ms. Simrin Mehra Agarwal, whose work explains the impact and aftermath of war in real and virtual world.
Lastly, the memorable event came to a closure by the experience shared by Mr. Amol Vaidya.
