GIIS Abu Dhabi recently commemorated Earth Day with a series of engaging activities that resonated with the spirit of environmental stewardship and sustainability.

The KG students participated in a delightful STEM journey, infusing the classic baking soda and vinegar reaction with an earthy twist. Through this hands-on experiment, the young learners not only experienced the joy of scientific exploration but also imbibed the importance of caring for the planet. Additionally, they enthusiastically took the Earth pledge, promising to play their part in preserving the environment.

In parallel, students from Grades 5 to 8 showcased their creativity and dedication to environmental conservation through various initiatives. The bulletin boards adorned with colourful posters and handcrafted artwork served as poignant reminders of our collective responsibility to protect and cherish our planet. Each display reflected the students' deep understanding of environmental issues and their determination to make a positive impact.

The Earth Day celebrations continued across different grade levels, with each segment tailored to suit the students' developmental stages and interests. Grade 1 students, for instance, crafted "Happy Earth Day" crowns, combining celebration with learning about the importance of environmental stewardship. Meanwhile, Grade 2 students engaged in meaningful discussions on pollution and deforestation, empowering themselves as agents of change in their communities. Grades 3 and 4 demonstrated their passion for sustainability through poster-making activities and thought-provoking discussions on the theme "Plastic vs. Planet." These young minds showcased their awareness of pressing environmental issues and explored ways to address them proactively.

The Middle Grades department made a solemn commitment to safeguarding the planet, pledging to minimise waste and champion sustainability in their daily lives. Through reflective activities and discussions, students reaffirmed their role as responsible global citizens, dedicated to preserving the Earth for future generations.
