Use of advanced video-conferencing technology at GIIS facilitates knowledge and cultural exchange transcending borders |
Global Indian International School (GIIS) believes in the power of using modern technology, including video-conferencing facilities to empower students and teachers in the process of learning. The school introduced e-Learning as part of its curriculum delivery in 2010 to provide a platform for various stakeholders to engage in knowledge and cultural exchange programmes. GIIS campuses worldwide are equipped with advanced video-conferencing technology that enable knowledge exchange between students, teachers and academicians, as part of the school’s e-Learning initiatives. Knowledge and cultural exchange with peers worldwide Students of GIIS interact with their peers in sister campuses across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and India, along with counterparts in other international schools worldwide using video-conferencing facilities. As part of the e-Learning initiative, GIIS students have undertaken knowledge-exchange activities on a wide range of topics with various schools. Some of these schools include Vales High School (Bangalore, India), Do Won Elementary School (South Korea), Indus International School (Bangalore, India), Chennai Public School (Chennai, India) and Millennium School (New Delhi, India). Interaction with eminent personalities Various stakeholders, including students, teachers and parents of GIIS campuses worldwide have had opportunities to listen and interact with eminent personalities from different walks of lives. Some of these include A R Rahman, Shiv Khera, Farhan Akhtar, Hrithik and Rakesh Roshan, to name a few. GIIS Leadership Lecture Series hosted in Singapore and Global Parenting Forums hosted in India have been webcast Live for audiences worldwide, while video-conferencing facilities have made real-time interaction possible between visiting personalities and students, teachers & parents across all GIIS campuses. Technology to empower future-ready citizens In his recent address to students worldwide on Teacher’s Day, Mr Modi took an opportunity to encourage and inspire young minds using the power of technology. As a school with global presence and students from diverse cultural backgrounds, GIIS aims to nurture future-ready citizens who have a global vision transcending boundaries. The school views optimum use of technology in education as a key tool to equip teachers to explore new pedagogical approaches in curriculum delivery, and enable students to engage with their peers worldwide and broaden their outlook.
