STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education provides students with hands-on learning and equips them to develop a strong understanding of concepts, along their learning journey. Methods of STEM are not just innovative, but also are an essential propellant into a students@aps@ future academic and professional success. Creating an interest in the concepts of these subjects will not only help develop a scientific temperament in students but also spark new forms of innovation. Global Indian International School (GIIS) conducted trial of STEM educational methods over the past six months across all three campuses in Singapore, during which the students’ interests and learning outcomes have been encouraging. Owing to the positive results, the school has introduced STEM for classes 3 to 8 from the current academic year for GIIS Queenstown, GIIS East Coast, and GIIS Balestier campuses. During the course of the academic year, each student will carry out eight hands-on experiments mapped to their curriculum. “With the introduction of STEM, GIIS takes another step towards an effective learning mechanism. Activities are planned by teachers in such a way that an ordinary classroom transforms into a productive concept learning environment,” said Mr GSS Rao, Director - Operations (Singapore), GIIS.
